wrap up and saddle up

I am so tired. We returned Saturday evening from two days of awesome off-road motorbiking in Wales at the BMW off-road school. I can't wait to go again! But man it was cold! I have been totally exhausted since we came back but I managed about and hour or so of painting tonight... another crack at my main Western guy with his laaaazy eye;-). Still feeling the chill from the valleys I decided to wrap him in a blanket. Haven't quite decided yet whether to leave him as a rough sketch or finish him a bit more... depends on how long I can stay awa.... zzzzz.

Birdie

For some reason the talk fell on the Norse gods and Odin's Ravens. So here's a raven... with edging:-)

Trying Patience

Waiting Game

Patience is a virtue... but not one of mine. I hate waiting for things. So I spent another couple of hours this afternoon finishing this one. Enjoy!

Waiting Game

So, I was going to spend the afternoon sketching and listening to some music... But nooo.... I-tunes had a major malfunction and chucked out my music library... twice! A malfunction which others have also suffered according to various forums... but no one has a definitive fix for, which means that it could happen again next time I open the darn programme. So instead of drawing all of my afternoon and evening was spent copying files, reinstalling, backing-up and recreating what was. There was a lot of waiting... I'm not very good at waiting... as illustrated by this little wip which I worked on for a few hours in frustration over having my afternoon and evening ruined.

Precious little to say

Precious Stones

Precious Stones - close-up 01

Precious Stones - close-up 02

Precious gazed across the small dusty runway and the parked airplanes lining it, shimmering in the heat of the midday sun. He put on an appropriately sultry looking pout and considered donning his sunglasses to add to the effect, then sauntered along glancing casually at the planes with a vaguely interested expression on his face. Eventually he reached the final aircraft and turned around. With his brows furrowing ever deeper he wondered how on earth he had managed to misplace an entire airplane… again. He had checked every one of them none of them was his, it simply wasn’t there. He looked back at the glorified barn functioning as both hangar and airfield control tower. His eyes darted across the massive painted on sign on the side of the building announcing that this was ‘Billy Ray’s Private Airfield’. Precious sighed silently and made his way to the gate providing the exit off the runway. It was the wrong airfield.

The second outing of Precious Stones done. Special thanks to Tom Petty for having awesome hair and Peter Weller for having big, poofy lips... one of my favourite features of Robocop:-)
Once again painted in Photoshop from a hand drawn sketch. Enjoy:-)

It's around here somewhere...

Work in progress of Precious... This time trying to appear casual and cool so no one notices that he forgot where he parked his plane.

Larimar Feldspar Stones

Larimar Feldspar 'Precious' Stones

Precious - close-up 01

Precious - close-up 02

Larimar's geologist parents were not without a sense of humour. Having carefully selected what they felt were elegant and sophisticated first and middle names to go with their son's stoic surname, they promptly referred to him only as 'Precious'.
Whether or not this had any bearing on Precious growing up to become anything but elegant and sophisticated is anyone's guess. He also had no interest in rocks whatsoever. Since childhood he was far more intrigued by the aircraft that took him and his parents off to their exotic locations hunting for gems rather than the actual exotic location itself. So it was really always in the cards that Precious would choose a career as a pilot... specialising in the transportation of precious stones.
