Cloak and Braid

Raleigh Samson

Well, it's only been a year. Have another Raleigh Samson. Here he is on a little excursion in the Emerald Graves. His Lyrium addiction now only a faint memory.

It's been a looong road...

Raleigh Samson

... getting from there to here.

As they sing in the theme song from Star Trek Enterprise. And boy has it been a long time.

It has been been over two years since I finished a personal piece. I actually started this one in order to test a Xencelabs Pen Display 24 for work. It's a wonderful piece of kit, and so not my thing. What can I say, drawing on screens just doesn't do it for me. So I returned to my tablet and pen to finish it.

For your consideration... My take on Raleigh Samson from the Dragon Age games. Oddly topical since the next Dragon Age game is coming out soon.

I do love taking tragic characters who have had all the worst luck and give them redemption and a happy ending. Which is exactly what is happening here. Look at him all smiling and recovering from Lyrium addiction after having joined the Inquisition. Boy gone done good after all.

T'other way

Dorian Pavus / Ramon Tikaram
Having had much fun with portraying Ramon Tikaram as an older Dorian Pavus, I thought I'd have a go and paint him as a young Dorian. I'm thinking mid-twenties, but I'm rubbish at judging ages, so who knows. ;-)

The man, the myth, the moustache

Ramon Tikaram / Dorian Pavus
Here's another one of Ramon Tikaram in the guise of the mage he so beautifully voiced, Dorian of House Pavus. Because I love his face so why the heck not.:-)

Magic moustache

Ramon Tikaram / Dorian Pavus
Because it was so much fun the first time round, here's another one of Ramon Tikaram - Dorian's voice actor - as Dorian.
I call this one 'That look you get on your face when you hear someone talking shit about your husband'.
After ten years of marriage to the inquisitor Dorian has grown his hair out a bit, and is still as ready as ever to launch a fireball up the backside of anyone disrespecting his amatus.

Dear Dorian

Ramon Tikaram / Dorian Pavus
Sometimes you come across a character who just resonates with you so very deeply it's almost infuriating. For me, Dorian Pavus from Dragon Age Inquisition is one of those. There is a spectacular number of reasons for this, and one of them is in no small part thanks to amazing actor Ramon Tikaram who gave him his voice.
Turns out that he is as gorgeous to look at as his voice is to listen to. I simply couldn't resist. I give you Ramon Tikaram as Dorian Pavus.
