Sometimes I wonder why I paint. Sometimes it seems like a rather futile and odd endeavor. Particularly when it makes me want to scream in frustration. And I wonder... why? Why the hell am I doing this... but the answer is really simple... I paint because I can't not. :-)
To put it in the words of Irma Thomas 'Anyone who knows what love is, will understand.'
And speaking of love... here's my first face of the 29 faces and the new year in fact. My pilot, Precious. :-)

Coming to you aaaaall the way back from Christmas.. because I totally forgot about it... I have now finished this one of Precious the pilot sporting his favourite cap - with eyes as blue as a cloudless sky and the attitude of an approaching thunderstorm.

Two rather rough wips for face number nine and ten. Precious in hues of blue, and a rosy little Micky.
My tinnitus is screaming like a banshee at the moment and I'm just exhausted, so as it stands I'll consider even a rough sketch a result. At least it's something :-)

Doing a spot of painting while on a little New Year break at my parents'. It's lovely... only trouble is... the computer here can barely handle Photoshop, the monitor has a resolution reminiscent of an 8-bit 80-ies game and I have no idea what the colours are like :-D But I can at least start some stuff and then finish them once I get home :-D
So for my first two paintings of 2017 have a wip of Precious and little Micky :-D

And speaking of 8-bit... here's an awesome rendition of the Monkey Island Theme :-)

Autumn is here! Aw yiiissss! Grab your coats and hats.... Precious has ;-) A wrapped up Mr Stones for face number 13. Somewhat out of season I had Nina Simone's version of Here Comes the Sun on repeat while I was painting this. Sorry inktober... I've got more faces to do ;-)

In a state of exhaustion I have fallen asleep in front of the monitor at night doing battle with big blue eyes, poofy lips and protruding collar bones. How dare you Mr. Weller! How very dare you!
The 29 faces is officially over with the end of September... this is face number 12 - another one of Precious the pilot. But I may just keep going.

This week I have been tired... really... really... tired. So no painting until now. Last time I attempted this precocious scarecrow I had the flu... so it seemed about time to try again. Cargo pilot Larimar Feldspar Stones - but everyone just calls him Precious. I saw Robocop for the first time not long after I came up with this fella, so his face just gravitated towards Peter Weller... but with Tom Petty kinda hair. It made sense at the time ;-)
