Imhotep! You out there?

Ardeth Bay

Face number eight. One of my favourite characters from one of my favourite films. Ardeth Bay played by the fantastic Oded Fehr. I really want to do a 'The Mummy' portrait gallery at some point.

German lessons with Mark Twain

Jim

Once upon a time I was studying for my German exam, and decided to do so by watching film The Adventures of Huck Finn - with Elijah Wood as Huckleberry - dubbed into German. Not only did it help me score an excellent exam result, it also introduced me to Courtney B. Vance in the role of the slave Jim. And I just fell in love. He is my favourite character in the film and also stunningly handsome. So here he is, face number seven, Courtney B. Vance as Jim.

A man of much relaxation

Tirion of Awel Glyn

Face number six. Some characters are just so comforting to paint and Lord Tirion of Awel Glyn is one of my favourites. Here he is taking some deep breaths in the morning sun.

Many moons ago I came across Japanese actor Mansai Nomura who has a wonderful melodic voice that makes me instantly relax. While he tends to play comedic roles, his general ambience is super chill. To me at least. So if course I thought 'he'll make a great reference for the elf Lord Tirion from one of my stories'. Besides Lord Tirion does have an impeccable sense of humour.

Squinting at my unfinished drafts...

Alex A. Breed

Face number five. The return of Marshal Breed with his killer squint and his dusty, dusty poncho. Perhaps once day I shall finish writing my western with this delightful leading man. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

This profile could cut diamonds

Raleigh Samson

For face number four I revisited one of my favourite characters, Raleigh Samson. As always based on one of my favourite faces on one of my favourite people, the fantastic actor Jared Bankens. From the first moment I saw Mr. Bankens, I saw  Raleigh Samson. Thank you Mr. Bankens, for letting me borrow your likeness for my little doodles.

Gorgeous from every angle

Hiroyuki Sanada

Well, he was bound to be in there somewhere. Face number three, Hiroyuki Sanada. I just love him, okay. I just really, really love. A lot. Yes, ok. Glad we got that established.

Reflections in the moon light

Boba Fett

For the second face I thought, perhaps I'd save a bit of time by not painting any hair. I didn't. But I did have fun painting my favourite bounty hunter. Boba Fett at night. With a little sprinkle of stars.

Everybody get in line, everybody turn and cough...

Luis Serra Navarro

... Everything will be all right if you just lay off.

February saw the return of  the 29 Faces challenge - create 29 Faces using whatever medium of your choice during the month of Feb. I love this challenge, 'cause I love painting faces. I know, I know... shocking revelation. ;-)

I had devised a plan. I have so little time and even littler energy... so let's do just profiles. It's almost like only doing half a face... right.

I started out, Stan the man with a plan, got to day eleven, got a ill and collapsed in a heap.

So, while I wind back up again and try to finish the remaining faces, I shall commence posting the faces that made it in Feb.

Starting with face number 1. A fresh-faced, young Luis, barely old enough to grow his designer stubble. What can I say, I love my lil' resident scientist.

Enjoy!

Resident Scientist

Luis Serra Navarro

The man, the myth, twinkle toes, pretentious bastard colleague, my favourite idiot... you know... Luis.

'Goodness knows I saw it coming, or at least I'll claim I did.

But in truth I'm lost for words.

What have I done?

It's too late for that.

what have I become?

Truth is, nothing yet.'

Simply Stupendous!

The Frostiest of Punk

A little while ago I was commissioned by the fabulousness that is The Stupendium to paint a portrait for their next video project - a stupendous and dramatic music video to celebrate the release of the game 'Frost Punk 2'.

For those unfamiliar, 'The Stupendium is a UK based musician, animator and content creator, creating weird, wonderful and usually incredibly nerdy songs and music videos.'

So if you love video games and love funny, quirky, poignant, dramatic and surprisingly heart wrenching music videos about video games with top tier wordsmithing... check them out!

The Stupendium YouTube Channel

They also have neat merchandise shop where you can purchase prints of the frosty version of my painting featured in the video and lots of other cool things.

The Stupendium Store

I had so much fun painting this, and I am thrilled at how epic the video turned out.

Go check it out!

Just a whole lotta love

co-captains

I process things I love by painting them. And boy, oh boy, am I processing right now.

I love this show. I love everything about it. And I love them. My favourite co-captions. :-)

‘And this will be the one moment that matters, and this will be the one thing we remember, and this will be the reason to have been here, and this will be the one moment that matters at all.’

Million mile stare

Boba Fett

Another one of Boba contemplating life in the moon light.

One of those days

Boba Fett

Just a tired, ex bounty hunter contemplating his life decisions in the moon light. (and me standing just off screen, two thumbs up shouting 'you're doing amazing, sweetie!')

My name is Boba Fett

Boba Fett

So I finally watched the Book of Boba Fett. And let's just say that if you don't enjoy talking about Boba Fett's dusty desert pyjamas and Temuera Morrison's delightful freckles, then you're probably not going to get much meaningful conversation out of me right now. Woof. ;-)

The joy

Uh, shiny!

... Of reading in bed at night. Face number six for the 29 faces.

Like an Abba music video

Mama Mia

Not sure what is going on here. Well, I mean, they're twins, but that's all I got.

Inconvenient earrings

Trois

Face number three for the 29 faces.

Small, pointy ears

Face number two. Wohoo.

Face number two for the 29 faces. I enjoyed painting that neck. :-)

Long time no see

Lookit

Just a lot of staring really.

It's February and the 29 Faces are back. So here's a face.

The Dickens

Charles Dickens

So Dickens take a, Dickens take a bow. And heaven knows he's miserable now.
