Waiting to accessorize

Tirion
So, this one of Lord Tirion has been hanging for ages... and I do mean aaaages. And it's still not done. It's getting there, but the lord is not averse to a bit of bling and I am currently stumped trying to design said bling. So for know... here he is is... blingless but still smiling benignly as ever. Enjoy. :-)

The backlog of my imagination

Wulfric
Occasionally I have a little excavation to dig out all the many wips that I've left hanging. So today I decided to finish  this one of Wulfric the Viking. This one comes all the way back from January 2017. Sorry about that Wulfric.

His Lordship will see you now

Bunter
So... did the butler do it? Well, he certainly does it for me. Ahahaha! I'm allowed to make bad jokes when my tinnitus is driving me mad, which it has been for four days in a row now.
Anyhoo... for those who are unfamiliar with the the early 80ies BBC dramatisation of the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries... which I must admit I was until quite recently... this fellow here is Lord Wimsey's multi-talented man servant, Bunter, played by the ridiculously charming Richard Morant. Enjoy.

What makes a girl?

Miss Morgan
When I told my friend who is a huge Merlin fan that I was going to be painting only ladies for a month she looked mightily unimpressed for a few moments and then replied 'You'll just have to do Colin Morgan as a girl then. And somehow I just couldn't the image out of my head. So here is Miss Morgan. Face number two for the 29 faces. And yes, I know it probably looks like a young boy... I'm trying, ok.

Sneaky Peaky

Eirian - wip

Lil’ preview of another Eirian painting. Yeah, I know… it’s all elves at the moment.

And sorry it’s so long between the art posts too. Things are… well… things… at the moment. But as the song goes ‘things can only get better’ ;-)

Je m'apelle Golden

Eirian - wip

I'm a silver person meself... So I thought I'd annoy myself by attempting my elf king in an o so very golden setting. Seems appropriate seeing as I am mere hours away from seeing Thorin being consumed by his gold sickness. I'm not sure I have enough tissues to get me through the last installment of The Hobbit. When they open the doors at the end of the film the entire audience will be surfing out on a tidal wave of my tears. It's gonna get snotty!

Shadow

Freyn y Cysgod
Done. And for some reason it looks like he's wearing a kimono. Also, is now a good time to mention that I can't stand the colour orange? I don't know what came over me.

Let your hair down

Freyn - wip
As I'm immersed in Merlin at the moment it seemed logical - Spock would be so proud of me - to do another painting of Freyn seeing as his looks are based on Colin Morgan. And because I find elves relaxing... was having a bit of a frustrating time today... so I needed relaxing.
In this particular rendition Freyn has let his hair down. It started out with his usual up-do, but then I changed my mind.

Unbuttoned Earl

The Earl
Took some time to finish this one of the Earl today. He did start out in a suit originally, but he decided to take if off half way through the proceedings. Actually, as I was painting, I was mulling over a scene in my western where the Earl is getting dressed, so it kinda turned into that.
The reason for his slightly melancholy facial expression is due to the love of his life having once again declined his marriage proposal. He has been asking her for years and she keeps saying no. Not because she doesn't love him, but because her outspoken nature and tomboy appearance is somewhat at odds with the Earl's ambition to become governor and she has no intention of changing her ways for any man. To further add to the Earl's heartache, the girl has recently taken a very keen interest in a wounded marshal whom she patched up after a shooting incident. Sometimes the Earl wonders why life seems to hate him... makes me feel kinda guilty ;-)

Aichel

Aichel
Another sorcerer from my middle earth story. Aichel, best friend of Raynfalg and father of Aisis and step father of elf king Eirian. This made for some interesting family dynamics as Eirian was already two centuries old when Aichel married his mother.
Hope you like him:-)
Ok, bedtime.

Elf King Eirian

Elf King Eirian
Found of bit of time today finishing the elf king. Very therapeutic, painting hair. This is his 'Autumn look'... Meaning that I'm toying with the idea of having his hair colour change with the seasons.
Enjoy:-)

Raynfalg - Rhinwyr

Raynfalg - Rhinwyr
One visually impaired sorcerer - done!
Enjoy:-)

Spellbound...

Raynfalg - Sorcerer
Work in progress of Raynfalg, one of the sorcerers from my middle earth style story. Rayn almost lost his eyesight in a fight when he was very young. Though he can still see his eyes are extremely sensitive to light, hence the emo-esque fringe and the large, peaked hood on his cloak - think Ass Creed style hood;-)
Hope you like him.

Minder

Freyndyal - his sister's keeper
All righty then.... Freyn - full name Freyndyal - is done.
Longstanding friend and confidant of King Eirian, Freyn was appointed guardian of the king's younger sister from the moment she was born. He has always considered his task a great honour and has approached it with the utmost dedication. Wherever the girl goes, Freyn is never far behind, earning him the nickname cysgod (shadow).
If anyone thinks there is a slight resemblance between Freyn and Merlin actor Colin Morgan... then they would be right. My good friend and fellow La Nova singer, the amazing anatomy professor Pat is a huge Colin Morgan fan, and has said on several occasions that I should use him for a painting. Well, professor... this one's for you. Hope you like him with pointy ears.

Elvish up-do

Freyn - y Cysgod

So, I've been drawing some of the characters from my lotr style story. Mainly dwarfs:-) Lots of drawing... so after I'd sketched up one of the elves this afternoon, I thought, oh heck, lets paint for a bit. Just a quickie wip from this evening.
This is Freyn.
Hope you likey:-)

Dark days...

Moerk Daag
'Moerk was slightly taken aback when he realised just how large the demon Ausubel actually was.'
One disconcerted necromancer... done!
Enjoy:-)

Hybrid Holmes

Sherlock

Sherlock - close-up

Well, it's been quite the Holmes bonanza recently watching my box-set with Jeremy Brett, the films with Downey Jr. and of course the newest addition with Cumberbatch... and because it's hard to pick a favourite... I shan't! Instead I doodled a sketch which incorporated some of my favourite Holmes features from his various incarnations and painted it in PS.
I hope you like him:-)

Larimar Feldspar Stones

Larimar Feldspar 'Precious' Stones

Precious - close-up 01

Precious - close-up 02

Larimar's geologist parents were not without a sense of humour. Having carefully selected what they felt were elegant and sophisticated first and middle names to go with their son's stoic surname, they promptly referred to him only as 'Precious'.
Whether or not this had any bearing on Precious growing up to become anything but elegant and sophisticated is anyone's guess. He also had no interest in rocks whatsoever. Since childhood he was far more intrigued by the aircraft that took him and his parents off to their exotic locations hunting for gems rather than the actual exotic location itself. So it was really always in the cards that Precious would choose a career as a pilot... specialising in the transportation of precious stones.
