Happy New Year!

A very happy new year to you all! I had a rather dramatic end to 2019 from an artistic point of view, as my computer decided it did not want to experience the new decade. Luckily, I am a belt and braces kinda cat, so my files are ok, and have now taken up residence on my spangly new machine. And I shall be living on porridge for the foreseeable future. As with everything there are teething issues, but the only way is forwards. So, for now, as I get to know my new beastie, have a wip of Little Micky manning the front desk at the airport on New Year's Eve. Lots of love to you all!

Just thought I'd post the little bit of progress I made with Tirion. It seems rather uncanny that the addition of tears to this coincided with the passing of the amazing David Bowie. And now, today, we've lost Alan Rickman... 2016 is having a rather shitty start I must say. Just let it all out Tirion... I don't blame you for weeping.

Getting greener

Just keepin' on chippin' away at it :-) I'm a bit poorly at the moment so it's slow going. Added more detail to the face and beginning to work on the clothing now.

Another wip. This time it's a more casual King Eirian. It's what I like to call his 'road trip' look. I have so many wip's going at the moment. But hey... at least there's plenty to get on with and finish ;-) The trick is to actually choose one... and then get on with it and finish it.

Night Cap

... No I'm not referring to alcoholic drinks before bedtime. I'm currently holidaying with my family at my parents' house replete with Photoshop and my travel Bamboo. The ceiling light above the computer in my old room is really rather horrific, however, from a painting point of view. It's right above me, creating a sort of light sheet between my eyes and the computer monitor. And I have discovered the best way to counteract this is to wear a cap, seeing as the shade on the cap breaks up the light. Also, the colour space and accuracy of the monitor is anyone's guess, so apologies if the colours are a bit odd. But I'm not complaining! Merely explaining. After all, I can paint... and that's awesome! :-) So, here's a wip of Gerry from New Tricks... a show which has been going for ten years, but which I only discovered three weeks ago. Go figure ;-)

It has been weeks without achieving much painting. I'm just too tired. I can't actually remember how it feels to not be tired. I feel like I'm on constant autopilot, carrying out tasks that have already been pre-programmed into my brain... but anything that requires actual creative thinking is beyond me at the moment. So instead, here's a little study I made for a character painting session a few weeks back. We didn't have a lot of time, so for now I've left his shirt unfinished. The Christmas break can't come soon enough.

Cold in the heat...

The weather has been hot lately. Really hot. Proper summer hot. I don't like it. I'm not a summer person.
I'm still struggling with my 'artist's block'... and an infuriating summer cold.
My reaction so far has been to keep chipping away at my paintings, even if I still end up discarding what I've been doing now and again. Here is another wip of Deklan. I've added some more detailing to the face... still experimenting with the apparel hence the cropped version posted here.
I'm gonna go blow my nose now and eat another lozenge.

Spent most of this evening just deciding what clothes I wanted him to wear. I'm still not sure. I think he's beginning to look like a pirate.

Buckles, Straps and Toggles

So, a few people asked about the buckles, asking how I painted them... To be honest, I'm never quite sure how I do anyhting... it just sort of happens. But I do save wip jpgs as I go along. So here's a little buckle progress compilation. And  little gif I gone done made. Hope that helps a bit.
