It's around here somewhere...

Work in progress of Precious... This time trying to appear casual and cool so no one notices that he forgot where he parked his plane.

Larimar Feldspar Stones

Larimar Feldspar 'Precious' Stones

Precious - close-up 01

Precious - close-up 02

Larimar's geologist parents were not without a sense of humour. Having carefully selected what they felt were elegant and sophisticated first and middle names to go with their son's stoic surname, they promptly referred to him only as 'Precious'.
Whether or not this had any bearing on Precious growing up to become anything but elegant and sophisticated is anyone's guess. He also had no interest in rocks whatsoever. Since childhood he was far more intrigued by the aircraft that took him and his parents off to their exotic locations hunting for gems rather than the actual exotic location itself. So it was really always in the cards that Precious would choose a career as a pilot... specialising in the transportation of precious stones.

Precious

Having the flu sucks big time! For three days I could barely look at a computer monitor to check my e-mail without wanting to womit, and I had to cover my face in a cloth soaked in cold water to watch the telly. Can't remember the last ime I was this ill.
But yesterday evening I couldn't stand it anymore... so I ate some more paracetamol, donned the cloth and attempted a spot of painting just for a few hours.
I revisited a sketch I drew at some point last year but didn't do anything with. And here he is... Precious Stones, he's a pilot.
Work in progress.

Lawman

The Lawman

The Lawman - close-up

My first ever cowboy. A bit sweaty, a bit dirty and bleeding. But hey, he's got a lovely poncho!
Inspired by the absolutely awesome actor Anthony Zerbe.

The singing geologist

This is David 'Alex' Turner, another one of my characters who has been around for a while. He is a geologist and a singer, which actually works quite well for him. He is also a human chameleon who takes great amusement in hiding naked in front of patterned wallpaper.
He is shamelessly inspired by how David Bowie looked when he was younger. Oh, mr. Bowie, many a sketch have I drawn of you.
Work in progress. Enjoy!

It must be love...

Valentine

Valentine - close-up 02

And there are many kinds of love...
My brother asked me to paint a zombie for him... and I don't love zombies... but I love my brother, so I ventured forth. He said I could do whatever I wanted, so I decided to base the painting around two things that I absolutely do love. Mummies and happy endings.
I got stuck with the design for ages, in fact an earlier version of this was posted on the blog last year. I had some groovy comments from people about blood and gore, and then I saw a fabulous programme about South American mummies... and suddenly it started coming together.
It's been done for a little while now, but I wanted to make sure my darling brother got his A1 print first before I posted it on-line. And it took ages to arrive, so long in fact I was worried it had got lost in the post. But he got it today! Yay!
So here he is, Valentine. He died on route to his first date with this girl he had a really, really, REALLY, big crush on and after a brief detour of decomposing and drying out in a ditch he's finally made it to her front door. I hope she'll love him as much as I ended up doing.

Lionel King

Lionel King

Yes, I called him Lionel king... I just couldn't help myself, hehehe;-)
